For 1991, Mazda offered an extraordinary new MX-5, which “romanced by the British classics – a car that “churns up all sorts of memories of late, great roadsters. The only difference is that this one's a far better, more capable car.”” Motor Trend As expected, this new Miata caused quite an excitement when released, therefore demand was quite high. Dennis Herrle of Illinois purchased this particular Special Edition new through Diamond Mazda of Baton Rouge, Louisiana - which is documented by ALL original purchase paperwork, pre-delivery service, and correspondence with the dealership. Along with the Window Sticker, Illinois registration documents, Illinois temporary registration permit, Louisiana temp tag license plate and Diamond Mazda vanity license plate – which has NEVER been removed from the car (mounted under the state license plate). ALL follow up correspondence from Mazda, Diamond Mazda and the Mazda Special Edition Register to Mr. Herrle - regarding the special edition prestige and features, are filed in the car's accompanying dossiers. As well as the accompanying Miata: MX-5 book set by Jack K. Yamaguchi and Jonathan Thompson, in its original box, with unmounted Special Edition console plaque.

Dennis Herrle would go on to own, cherish and preserve this exceptional MX-5 until it was passed to a resident of Houston, Texas in late 2018 – who would uphold the same care and consideration as Herrle. With just 13,500 miles on the odometer, the car retains ALL factory original body paint, upholstery, glass, trim, lenses, weather equipment and more! A definitive time-warp example in stock / unmodified form. ALL VIN matching decals are displayed on the interior and edges of the body panels, coupled with a pre-delivery inspection sticker on the windshield and radio alarm warnings on the quarter windows. The exterior displays glossy paint and rash-free wheels with 2018 dated Toyo tires. Both hard and soft tops appear like-new with clear rear windows. The cabin is pristine as one could expect with original carpeting and mats protected by supplemental rubber mats. Original radio and wood accents remain in place. All plastic is crack-free, while all electronics, power equipment, and air conditioning are in proper working order. A complementing Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel (still in the box) and hub adapter (with airbag sensor override) accompany.
