14229 was sold new through West Coast Ferrari distributor Bill Harrahs Modern Classic Motors, Nevada to its first registered owner, Mr. G. MacLeod. Although sold through the USA Modern Classic Motors dealership, this Daytona was collected at the factory in Modena for use for touring in Italy/Europe prior to having it flown from Italy to Seattle, Washington, USA. This Daytona Coupe remained in Mr. MacLeods ownership for the next 38 years until March 2009 when acquired by Mr. M. Diez, L.A., California.

From 2009-2010 the Daytona was treated to a mechanical and cosmetic restorative work, including a complete rebuild of the vehicle's original engine, handled by well-known West Coast Ferrari specialists Francorchamps of America.

In December 2010, the Ferrari was acquired by Richard Griot of Griot's Garage, who would further restore the Ferrari, with numerous accompanying invoices on file. Over the comprehensive span, 14229 was refinished in its original color, along with refurbished bumper brightwork, while the interior was freshened in a sympathetic fashion over the years. This included new carpeting, correct mouse hair dash, instruments, with preserved leather seating, steering wheel and surrounds. A Restoration/Service binder records $127k in records and expenditures.

Specialist dealer and collector Autosport Designs, Inc., of Huntington Station, NY purchased the car in August 2014 for use within the company's private collection. The Daytona was actively exercised for events, shows and weekend runs to and from East Hampton. In addition to a successful run of the 2016 Copperstate 1000 Rally. Regarding 14229, Autosport Designs said “It is without a doubt one of the best 365 GTB/4's we have owned over the years and a true testament to Ferrari's ultimate GT car.”
A 2021 inspection and tune-up under our care addressed new oil, fluid and filters, restoration of the original alternator, a restoration of the original Becker Mexico cassette radio by experts Becker Autosound, a new US spec style exhaust system by QuickSilver of England, as well as a general tune-up, testing and extensive detail. Current mileage reads 95,395 - correct Michelin XWX tires dated 2017.

This exceptionally presented and prepared 365 GTB/4 is offered with an original Operating, Maintenance and Service Handbook, US Manual Supplement, Consumer Information booklet, Becker pamphlets and warranty cards in sleeve – all secured in original leather Ferrari folio. The Ferrari is further supported by receipts and restoration records in dossier from 2003-Present, as well as spare tire assembly and Borrani wheel nut spanner to remove the beautifully restored magnesium wheels.
