With sweeping curves and aggressive lines, the 308 has become one of the most recognized and iconic Ferrari road cars to date. Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti who is also responsible for some of Ferrari's most celebrated shapes, such as the Daytona, Dino and Berlinetta Boxer. The updated 308 Quattrovalvole model—QV for short—introduced in 1982, adopted a 32-valve cylinder head. Other changes for this improved model included an available small rear spoiler, additional louvers between the headlamps to improve airflow for the radiator, and power mirrors, amongst other updates. Ultimately, just 3,042 GTS models would be produced during its three-year model run.
56733 was constructed in March 1985 wearing Rosso Corsa paint over Beige leather upholstery, equipped with air conditioning, power windows and GTS removable top. The Quattrovalvole was sold new by Roger Mauro Imports of Lakewood, Colorado to J. Franzman of Denver. Roger Mauro would regularly maintain and service the Ferrari, as recorded in an accompanying dossier of invoices - dating to June 1985. 56733 changed ownership in the mid-1990's to E. Behrendsen of Parker, CO – who continued its servicing tradition, largely through Ferrari of Denver. J. Morris of castle Rock later acquired the QV in January 2008, again, with several Ferrari of Denver invoices on file. In December 2013 the car was sold to Covington, Louisiana and would reside in Louisiana until our acquisition.
Today, the GTS appears nicely presented overall with 40,000 recorded miles, while the glossy paint, interior upholstery, undercarriage and stowage compartments remain tidy and well maintained. The cabin is comfortable with recently restored leather seating – stitched as original. Etched glass is fitted. The Ferrari's body and paint show well with straight lines and excellent gaps. Restored original Campagnolo wheels have been fitted with new and period correct Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires. A matching spare tire stows upfront, while the rear luggage compartment - with working zippers contains a complete original tool kit and emergency pouch with jack, tools, spare belts, bulb and fuse container. This QV is additionally supported by its original 1984/85 308 Quattrovalvole U.S. Version Owner's Manual, California Emission Warranty Statement, Lubricants Chart, Lubricants Comparison Chart, Sale and Service Organization Booklet, and all Blaupunkt Tucson manuals in Original Ferrari Folio.
From 2023-24 This QV was submitted to a thorough engine out services and detailing totaling over $35,000.00. The result is a no questions asked “dialed in” 308 QV, turn-key ready to enjoy.
This GTS sports a strong powerplant, tight steering and solid suspension as expected from such a well maintained example. Ferrari 308 Quattrovalvoles are rapidly increasing desirability and well serviced, complete examples can be difficult to find. They represent tremendous value in today's marketplace, and presented here is a great candidate to surely demand attention wherever it goes.
