“If there is one model in the history of BMW M that represents its most significant era, it is the BMW M635CSi. Like no other BMW M model before it, it embodied the ultimate symbiosis of luxury and high-performance. Considered avant-garde back then, today its typical M characteristics make it a sought-after classic.” -BMW

AN EIGHTIES ICON. Descending from a long line of BMW sports coupés, the E24-generation M635CSi was first introduced in 1984. It boasted a refined version of the M1's 3.5-litre 24-valve six-cylinder engine capable of producing 286 bhp and was mated to a five-speed gearbox. Accordingly, the E24's brakes, suspension and weight distribution were all altered to adjust for the increase in power, and a limited-slip differential was also fitted. Top speed was quoted as being in excess of 250 km/h, and the M635CSi could sprint to 100 km/h from a standstill in roughly six seconds.

Dubbing it 'Sharknose' and 'Bayern-Express', fans were quick to give the BMW M635CSi creative yet fitting nicknames. Then as now, it is regarded as the icon of the BMW E24 series. On the outside, the BMW 635CSi was instantly recognizable thanks to the special decorative stripes on its flanks, new spoilers at the front and rear and BBS wheels with a cross-spoke design.

1050626 was completed on September 4, 1984 and purchased “used” with 100km, on September 27th by Jack Miller of famed Jack's Auto & Aero (BMW specialist), who immediately commissioned importation to the U.S. The BMW would arrive Stateside in December of that year, documented by original Bill of Sale and purchase paperwork, along with its German Vehicle Registration, all importation slips, receipts, and records. By Summer of 1985, the M635 had been federalized, along with a release of bond from the EPA. The CSi would remain under the Miller family's care and ownership for the following 35+ years, with all record of its journey from Huttenberg, Germany to Bainbridge, Pennsylvania.

Today, the M6 presents exceptionally well and thoughtfully maintained from lifelong enthusiast ownership. With 39,675 recorded miles, the car retains a large portion of original paintwork, upholstery, trim and more. Under the care of expert BMW tuners, naturally the M635 would receive tasteful enhancements to further improve the vehicle's performance. These include a front strut brace, F/R sway bars, improved coils, Air-Fuel tuner, and a full-stainless Supersprint exhaust system – all reversible if need be.

The exterior displays glossy paintwork, straight body and excellent gaps, complimented with original BMW-etched side and rear glass. Spoilers, fender flares, and decorative stripes complete the package. The cabin appears quite original overall, with beautifully mellowed anthracite Buffalo leather throughout. Same for supple leather and plastic trim. A newer Pioneer CD player is fitted, and to be noted, this M6 was delivered new without a radio. A portable emergency light resides in the glovebox, as does a digital air/fuel meter and small equalizer.

Both front and rear compartments exhibit original coatings, finishes, plaques and decals in a highly detailed and tidy display. Its original numbers-matching engine number 41803500 is fitted. The luggage compartment is equipped with a complete tool kit, jack chock, tire iron, BBS hubcap wrench and spare tire assembly. An M635CSi decal is adhered to the rear lid. Likewise, the undercarriage is notably solid, clean, and reflects that of a cherished garaged vehicle.

Drivability is strong, with robust performance these models are famed for. Servicing records from 2016-Present record recent upkeep and upgrades, such as the suspension enhancements and freshening – all performed by lifelong caregiver Jack's Auto & Aero. A Fall 2020 inspection and service included a new battery and all-four new ABS sensors – a common problematic part and often neglected repair due to a scarcity of OEM supplies. The car displays no warning lights. This was followed by a 2021 service addressing: a new clutch slave cylinder, master cylinder, as well as factory correct NEW 240/45VR415 Michelin TRX tires.

In addition to the aforementioned records and equipment, 1050626 comes with 4 original keys, an original Owner's Handbook, German M635CSi Supplement, and BMW Classic Certificate. A modern classic and legendary Bavarian supercar of the 1980's, this BMW M635CSi offers boundless opportunity - from single-family, expert ownership for casual display or spirited sport touring.
