A Beautifully Presented, U.S. Delivery Factory Black 190SL Roadster

121042-10-024257 was completed on May 28, 1962 finished in Black paint (040) over Cream Leather upholstery (1060), destined for the U.S. market – as verified by factory DataCard (birth certificate) provided by Mercedes-Benz Classic. The 190SL would ultimately reside in Texas under the care of a Mr. William Warren in Dallas, who acquired the Mercedes-Benz on June 30, 1965 from the Van Winkle Motor Company of Dallas, Texas. The car is now being sold on this same 1965 Texas title.

In the very early 1980's (now residing in Fayetteville, Georgia), the 190 was parked in garage storage - where it would remain until early this year, when the car was recovered and transported to our facility in Houston, Texas. Presented as discovered, its original windshield displays an April 1981 Georgia inspection decal, while 1975 Texas license plates remain affixed to the car.

Thanks to many years of garage storage, the Roadster is a remarkable example of preservation. In addition to all original glass, this complete numbers-matching car appears to retain much of its original trim, chrome, portions of paint, along with (x5) 3/62 date coded wheels - shod in correct-as-delivered 6.40x13” white walled tires. An original and rare cream-colored hardtop offers the driver open or coupe-esque drivability. Note the soft top frame is missing. The cabin's interior appears highly original, including the upholstery and Becker Europa High Fidelity radio.

Its luggage compartment displays original gray mats, jack, and 2/62 stamped spare, while the engine bay presents equally as correct with proper fitments and auxiliary equipment. Underneath, a dry and solid chassis offers an honest insight in the Roadster's history and arid preservation. This handsome SL offers an exciting and exceptional base for freshening and/or restorative work. *Vehicle titled as a 1963
